EUROPE ENVIRONMENT SURCHARGE (EES) Surcharge Effective from October 1st, 2026

Thank you for your continued support and for choosing Ocean Network Express (ONE) to cater to your needs.
Following the implementation of the Europe Environment Surcharge (EES) on January 1st, 2025, we are providing an update on the quarterly tariff adjustment. The EES was introduced to align with new and evolving environmental regulatory standards. For further details, please refer to here.
ONE will also commence the mandatory surrender of United Kingdom Allowances (UKAs) for 100% of our verified greenhouse gas (GHG) emissions within the regulatory scope of the newly expanded United Kingdom Emissions Trading Scheme (UK ETS), effective July 1st, 2026. The coverage of the EES surcharge will now be expanded to all cargo in/out from the UK. Read more about the UK ETS here.
Starting January 1, 2026, the European Union Emissions Trading System (EU ETS) enters its full compliance phase. The mandatory surrender of European Union Allowances (EUAs) expands from the current 70% (2025) to 100% of verified emissions within the regulatory scope. This expansion means that emissions accounting will now include the potent greenhouse gases, methane (CH₄) and nitrous oxide (N₂O). Read more about the EU ETS here.
ONE remains fully compliant with, and strongly supportive of, the latest regulatory requirements aimed at reducing greenhouse gas (GHG) emissions and advancing a sustainable and environmentally responsible future. To streamline billing and maintain transparency, the existing EES will be adjusted to incorporate the UK ETS portion alongside the existing EU ETS and Fuel EU Maritime costs.
We are pleased to share the applicable EES tariff for the period from October 1, 2026 to December 31, 2026. As part of our ongoing commitment to regulatory compliance and transparency, EES tariffs are reviewed quarterly, subject to change with prior notice.
This surcharge continues to apply to all contracts. You can find the specific tariff details for this upcoming quarter below.
